    About Us

    Our Story

The Children's Community Library of the Whispers of Love Foundation is a community-based, nongovernmental organisation of Social Work, that was founded by two Ugandan twin sisters, Esther and Janet. They took this decision after being touched by the lives of three children they met : these little ones did not have any assistance to go to school, and two of them were orphans living with their grandmother. Having seen the suffering and appealing situation of the children, they dedicated their efforts towards kids in similar conditions. They first tried to pay the tuition for the first three children, but as the numbers gradually increased to eight, then thirty three, it became difficult to manage the three kids with all the others. They finally decided to open up a library that would be able to host as many children and provide basic learning materials like books, toys that would help occupy them in the day. They started helping to teach the kids how to read and write through alphabetical letter learning and basic knowledge in English and Maths.but most of all, Whispers of Love Foundation is a place where children come to find love, care and compassion.

    Education

Our library is located in Namulanda and attached to our home. It is indeed our garage that we have opened to the 33 children who come daily to learn. These children have been split into three groups, the Monkey's group which consits of the eldest children, the Elephant's group with the middle children and the Hippo's group with the yougest children. The children are put in groups according to the level they can handle since we receice children that have never been to school and age does not determine the group. With the help of volunteers, we are able to help the children to learn different things : speak and write in English, read, count, and most of all to have confidence in themselves and into their capacities.

    Saturday Program

Our library is open to the whole community on Saturdays, and we host children from other schools to come and interact with our pupils, with the books and with ou community. Our main objective is to encourage our young generation to engage more in reading books as a way of passing time but also enlarging on their knowledge through reading.

    Health and Nutrition

Medical care in Uganda is very expensive and not easily accessible by the poor communities. We therefore dedicate ourselves to help the children receive any madical care under any circumstances and also provide a breakfast and a lunch meal every day they are at the school to improve on their nutrition and feeding as most homes can not even afford a meal a day due.
